36 Weeks! (nine months!!)

    Update:
  • He should weigh around 6 pounds now. With the way I've been eating lately, I wouldn't be shocked if he were more around 10, maybe 12 pounds. Especially with the weight I've been packing on. But let's not touch that subject...
  • One more week and I'd say he's perfectly cooked and ready.
  • This whole time I've been pregnant I've been dreading labor. Mostly because of the awkward/uncomfortable-ness of the whole situation, not because of the pain so much. Now with 4 weeks left....I'm more than ready.
  • I still have braxton hicks but they've been much more painful then before. I'm wondering if it's the actual contractions starting to come on. Sometimes they get so strong they wake me up. They don't come on frequently though.
  • I don't know what kind of positions he is pulling or what he is even capable of at this point, but my stomach is rarely ever round, like normal pregnant women. It has various shapes throughout the day. Sometimes egg shaped, sometimes heart shaped, sometimes donut shaped (you would totally understand if you could see them). Usually it's just completely lobsided.
  • They say around this far along the baby won't be able to move as much, so you won't be feeling kicks and punches, just more squirms and little movements. Not this little guy. In fact, I think he moves MORE than he used to. I love feeling him and knowing that he's doing good in there, but holy moly! He has no more room! Shouldn't he just be chillen by now?!
  • We love: cold cereal, anything candy, sherbet ice cream
  • We hate: grilled chicken, ground beef, and bread that's not soft enough.
  • I have one pair of pants and about 3 shirts that fit me comfortably right now. Other than that everything is too small or too tight. Looks like I'll be staying home for the next four weeks in my sweats.
  • I'm scared to death of taking care of his wee man parts after he's circumsized. Really. It keeps me up at night. I know he'll be just fine and he won't be in any pain afterwards, but it's just the thought of what's going to happen to him. I can't imagine my poor baby going through anything like that. Please tell me this is a normal feeling?!

Nesting

So I know this is "The Gerber Blog", and I have posted about nothing but pregnant me the last 8 months, but who really cares about boring us right now when we have an awesome baby on the way?!!

-Virtual high five to all those who just agreed with me that my baby is awesome.-

Anywho, this whole nesting stage has kicked into overdrive and when I say overdrive I mean I MUST.CLEAN.EVERYYYYTHING.
And not just a good sweep and a mop, I'm talkin scrubbing things and places I've never even seen before. The other day I really wanted to clean our kitchen floor. Once I took the swiffer out, I quickly realized that it wasn't good enough. So I got on my hands and knees to scrub the floor. Which was a bad idea because from that view I quickly realized that my cabinets definately needed a bit of attention, which lead to my fridge needing to be stripped and given a big dose of TLC, and on and on. Everything must be GOLD because if it's not perfect, heaven forbid I have to do it allll over again.
It's almost getting a little out of hand. And yet, I really don't mind. Anything that this baby will be coming within a 10 foot radius with must be disinfected. Twice. And after I clean, YOU BETTER NOT TOUCH IT.

All I can say is thank you to whoever invented this magical bit of heaven. It works anywhere and everywhere in your house. I'm tellin you, if the world ever ends, I will have cans and cans of this along with my food storage. Always be prepared people.

Before/After

Besides the little decorations I still need to add to the walls, baby Gerber's room is officially done! Let's all take a big deep breath together......

With less than 5 weeks left (fingers crossed), I feel like I can breathe a little better now. So to celebrate a little, I'm going to recap from where we started to where we are now.

1. This is a dresser we randomly had in our garage (I think it was left by the previous owner). And it was nasty. But with a little paint....

2. This was before we had blinds, and when we used the room as our tv/guest room, so don't judge us by the awesome cheetah print blanket we used as a curtain.

3. We still don't have the bedding yet, but it's on it's way! So the crib is still naked for a few more days.

pregnancy fun fact #1

My sister told me that I don't ever take pictures of

A. my entire pregnant self, and
B. my pregnant self with Straton.

There is really only two words I can say to explain why I haven't done so.

Water Retention

Yes. It's taking over my body like no.other. Let me just say, I had cankles to begin with (I'll resist the temptation of telling you all which one of my parents I get that from. She already knows), but I now have uber cankles, and no definition of a calf muscle even existing.

You know that feeling you get when you've worn your hair up in a ponytail much too tight all day long, and when you finally take it out, your scalp just aches with fury?! Similar feeling I get when I take my socks off at night. I even have a ring around my cankle from the elastic.

Going weeks without shaving my legs + cankles = the unsexiest thing you just might ever see.

But, because I'm just that caring, I'll post this beauty to keep you happy. Everyone say thanks to Julie for making it happen.

What I've learned so far

  • Maternity clothes that say "One Size Fits All", they're really saying "One Size Fits only this skinny, probably not even pregnant, model used in this advertising picture".
  • I've mastered peeing in a cup.
  • From here on out, the word stirrups will always make me cringe.
  • Sleep is almost impossible.
  • It's probably better just to keep the bathroom light on all night. And if Straton just so happens to leave the toilet lid up, it will only save me from exerting that much more energy.
  • When wearing a nice shirt, wear a bib. Apparently my lips can't hold back any food or water like they used to.
  • I'm lucky to shave my legs once a week. I can barely see nor reach them.
  • Don't get offended when Straton tells me to get my hairy man legs off his at night.
  • Some people sleep until noon....
  • Strangers like to stare. You'd think they'd be used to the other 500 pregnant women walking around Logan by now.
  • Soda is gold. I'm getting the biggest caffeinated soda right after I deliver.

33 Weeks!

Update:

-Estimate of 4 1/2 pounds and gaining a half a pound a week.
-This little boy has loved being low in my hips. I rarely ever feel him kicking my ribs.
-He has the hiccups at least once a day, everyday. And I don't think he likes them. Usually before they start up he kicks around like crazy for a minute or two and then gives up once he realizes there is nothing he can do.
-He still moves around and kicks like crazy. It literally looks like he's trying to jump out of my skin.
-He doesn't like sleeping in. No sir. He let's me know when he's ready for me to get up. Sometimes I try to fight it, but he always wins.
-Getting in and out of bed are like Olympic events now.
-I love a great healthy meal, but I can't stop stuffing myself full of candy and chocolate. In fact, I think I'm going to get a bowl of ice cream as soon as I'm done with this post.
-The nursery is 95% finished. I'm just waiting on the fabulous crib set and then, with a few decorations to add here and there, I'm officially done with his room!

Pregnancy Brain

Well folks, I attempted to delete my google gmail account today. Instead I delete the whole, entire account! Which means everything, including my -StratonandLauren.blogspot.com- blog, are dunzo! So, as I completely start from scratch once again, I hope you'll stick around until my next disaster. =)

Welcome to the new blog!
